Body Heat meets Mildred Pierce

From recent coverage: One may need to go a long way back to Kathleen Turner’s debut in Body Heat to find a more Machiavellian central character - who we see push her closest friend in the film Laura off a cliff at the end just to keep things clean. There’s an interesting mixture here between a will to preserve natural beauty in Katherine and a steely will to take back and to own at the cost of everyone’s lives around her - driven by a deep honoring of her father’s lost legacy. The journey to this reveal of Katherine’s true nature is done in a leisurely way with betrayal by those she loves acting as a misdirection so that we feel her to be a victim when all along she is the manipulator - and this is an achievement indeed.

Logline: A ruthless real estate mogul will do anything to buy back her father’s San Diego coastal property while her equally deceitful daughter, her philandering boyfriend, and her degenerate ex-husband all scheme to loot her fortune.
