"Like a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde, JACKSON explores what happens when two people that probably shouldn’t have found each other - do.
"It’s an intriguing premise, that down on his luck Bob, home after a failed shot at Hollywood - should stumble upon the only other person in small-town Tennessee whose passion for role play and old film matches his.
"Once these two unite - the sparks fly (most memorably in an awkward and hysterical wedding scene), as they both up the ante on each other's risk threshold, keeping the audience guessing as to what might come next.
"The brashness of their actions propels the plot as they continue to one-up each other ( a particular stand out is an assumed identity at a Dirt Car event). Dialogue supports - nicely illuminating the drives and petty grievances of small-town life as well as giving insight as to why Bob and Charlotte might find this lifestyle compelling.
"Not shying away from the emotional toll of their impulsive actions, the pair are easy to root for when they hit rock bottom, and when some truths are revealed about Bob’s past.
"The small-town setting and road trip portion provide the backdrop for some inventive visuals, and for the right director to bring a visual Noir stamp to the proceedings.
"Fans of road trip films and partner in crime capers will no doubt find much to love here."
"It is an interesting concept to take such a famous song and to apply it to a visual medium..." - Black List Coverage
